Snejina Tankovska

Snejina Tankovska holds MA degree in Drama Theatre Directing (1973) from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) in Sofia, Bulgaria. She is a Professor of Drama Theatre Acting & Directing (since 1979); Guest Professor at the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing, China (since 2011); Head Department of Drama Acting and Directing (since 2010).
She has attended a number of specialized post-graduate courses in the field of the Stage Arts: at the Higher State Theatre Institute, Moscow (1975); the University of London (1992-1993), the ELIA Seminar of Cultural Project Management, Amsterdam (1995), and holds the European Diploma in Cultural Project Management (2000). She was NATFA’s Vice Rector – International Relations & Research (1993-2000); Executive Manager of the Drama Training Theatre (1987-2009) and Dean of the Stage Arts Faculty (2001-2009).
Snejina Tankovska has successfully staged over 30 plays in various Bulgarian theatres, most acclaimed of which were Eric Bogosian’s Sex, Drugs & Rock’n’Roll, Men Inside, Suburbia and Pounding Nails into the Floor; David Mamet’s Duck Variations and The Woods; David Hare’s The Blue Room; Churchill & Lan’s A Mouthful of Birds; Neil LaBute’s Bash, The Distance from Here, The Mercy Seat, Autobahn, Liars’ Club; Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses, Journey to the West; Tony Kushner’s The Illusion; William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and others.
Snejina Tankovska has participated at numerous international theatre conferences, symposia and festivals in USA, Spain, Italy, UK, Finland, Greece, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Cyprus, France, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Russia, India, Mexico, Peru, China and others.
She was and is at the moment actively involved in European partnership projects: inter}artes; artesnet.europe; SHARE.
Board and Executive Group Member of the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) 1996-2002 and since 2008.
