Interactive workshops “Collaborate & Innovate: Boosting Creative Potential in the Azores”

3-4 July, University of the Azores and online (via Zoom)

 

 

The University of the Azores (UAc) invites artists, arts managers and entrepreneurs, cultural professionals, researchers, educators, students, cultural policy-makers and anyone interested to join the collaborative interactive workshops, hosted in partnership with the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Kr. Sarafov” (NATFIZ). These workshops are taking place as part of the Horizon Europe IN SITU project that supports creative and cultural industries in non-urban areas of Europe.

Five collaborative sessions and an open conference will be held, starting Monday morning, 3 July and throughout Tuesday 4 July, 2024. They are designed to empower participants in driving change, securing funding, mastering cooperation and networking in non-urban areas.  The sessions’ topics range from exploring the power of storytelling, sharing practices of social entrepreneurship and sustainable models in non-urban areas through developing EU funding strategies and fostering strategic cooperation and networking in non-urban areas.

You can join the five sessions below (or some of them upon your choice), or the open public conference, online or in person. The time zone is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) – Azores:

  • Workshop 2: 3 July (11:00 – 12:30) The Future of Interactive Storytelling (with Sean Burns |Centre of Creative Technologies, University of Galway and Founder of 4E Virtual Design)
  • Workshop 3: 3 July 2024 (14:00-15:30) Social and business entrepreneurship: How to expand internationally? (with Lidia Varbanova| NATFIZ)
  • Workshop 4: 3 July (16:00-17:30) Diversifying revenue streams and successful EU funding applications: Tips and lessons learned (with Lidia Varbanova| NATFIZ )
  • Workshop 5: 4 July (10:30-12.30) Digital Marketing: How to strategically create/develop a project (with Bernardo Ferreira | E-Commerce Marketing & SEO Specialist at Worten)
  • Public conference: 4 July (14:30-16.00) Collaborate & Innovate: Boosting Creative Potential in the Azores (Moderator| Pilar Damião de Medeiros | IN SITU Lab Azores | CICS.UAc/CICS.NOVA.UAc).

Lidia Varbanova, Professor and Program Director at NATFIZ, states: “The Azores, with its stunning natural landscapes and serene non-urban areas, provide a unique backdrop for creativity and innovation to flourish. The culture of the Azores is deeply rooted in tradition, yet there is an openness to new ideas and creative expression that makes it a fertile ground for creative industries to thrive. We believe these workshops will give us a unique chance to exchange local and international perspectives, analyse successful examples, gain fresh insights and form valuable connections.”
