Collaborative interactive workshop: “Cooperation for sustainability: Strengthening capacities of local actors”

The Zaklada Kultura Nova (KNF) invites artists, arts managers and entrepreneurs, cultural professionals, researchers, educators, students, cultural policy-makers and anyone interested to join the collaborative interactive workshop, hosted in partnership with the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Kr. Sarafov” (NATFIZ). The workshop is taking place as part of the Horizon Europe IN SITU project that supports the work of creative and cultural industries in non-urban areas of Europe.

Four collaborative sessions will be held, starting in the morning of Monday, 30th September and throughout Tuesday, 1st October 2024. They are designed to empower participants in driving change, securing funding, mastering cooperation, and networking as well as working with the communities in non-urban areas.  The sessions’ topics range from strategic management and leadership, networking and partnerships building on a local and regional level, community building and audience participation

to financial and fundraising opportunities for individual artists and entrepreneurs.

The University of the Azores (UAc) invites artists, arts managers and entrepreneurs, cultural professionals, researchers, educators, students, cultural policy-makers and anyone interested to join the collaborative interactive workshops, hosted in partnership with the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Kr. Five collaborative sessions and an open conference will be held, starting Monday morning, 3 July and throughout Tuesday 4 July, 2024. They are designed to empower participants in driving change, securing funding, mastering cooperation and networking in non-urban areas.  The sessions’ topics range from exploring the power of storytelling, sharing practices of social entrepreneurship and sustainable models in non-urban areas through developing EU funding strategies and fostering strategic cooperation and networking in non-urban areas.

IN SITU seminar in Valmiera proved the power of networking for catalysing the creative potential in non-urban areas

 

One of the key dimensions of the IN SITU project is the capacity building and skill development program, designed to foster entrepreneurial social and business models and innovation in each of the six LAB regions (Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Iceland, Azores, Croatia) and to correspond to the needs of the CCIs players in these regions.

Six training sessions were held in Valmiera, Latvia and online on 24-25 April 2024, in partnership between the Latvian Academy of Culture and the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Kr. Sarafov”, Bulgaria. The topics ranged from mastering storytelling, audience engagement, funding applications to tips and methods for strategic cooperation and networking locally and internationally. The seminar brought together an experienced team of presenters and facilitators – Dr. Ieva Zemite, Mg, Art. Elizabete Palasiosa, Mg. Art Ilona Asare, Mg. Art Liene Jakobsone, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ema Konstantinova  and Prof. Dr. Lidia Varbanova.

The organised networking brunch with local arts managers, artists, policy-makers, and experts, was a perfect opportunity for networking, knowledge sharing, exchange of ideas and presentation of the innovative IN SITU case studies: “The garden as functional decorative resource in the formation of the LAUX community” and “Valmiera county manor network”.

The seminar was held online and offline, in a collaborative and open environment, assisting participants to gain various tips and techniques for managing creative organisations and projects in non-urban areas. The analysis of the feedback questionnaire shows that 76.9% of the participants answered that the workshops were “very good”, 23.1% as “good”. The competence and knowledge of the invited speakers/moderators, the program’s content design and discussed topics, the great atmosphere and the networking opportunity, were valued the most by the participants.

IN SITU is a four-year project that combines research and experimental actions to advance the innovation-related practices, capacities, and potential of cultural and creative industries (CCIs) based in non-urban areas of Europe. Thirteen universities and research institutes from 12 European countries are collaborating on the research, which is led by the Centre for Social Studies of the University of Coimbra in Portugal. West Iceland is one of the six experimental areas of the study, and the workshop is part of the training offered by the project in connection with the study. Creative Industry Workshops in Galway: Elevate your Innovative and Creative Potential in Non-urban Areas!”: 22-23 February, University of Galway, Ireland and online

 

Are you an artist or creative looking to develop your skills in the industry? Are you interested in learning about funding strategies, using new technologies and managing creative spaces?

The University of Galway’s UrbanLab is inviting artists, creative people and anyone interested to join a series of free workshops hosted in partnership with the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts from Sofia, Bulgaria. The workshops are taking place as part of the Horizon Europe IN SITU project that supports the work of the creative and cultural industries in non-urban areas of Europe.

Four collaborative workshops will be held as interactive and open spaces, starting in the early afternoon of Thursday 22 February and throughout Friday 23 February 2024. They are designed to help participants gain new insights into the creative industries and enhance their skills. The topics range from allowing participants to explore the use of new creative technologies in their work, through developing funding strategies and managing creative spaces, building partnerships with other artists and stakeholders. Dr. Mark Rainey, a member of UrbanLab Galway and researcher on the IN SITU project states, ‘Creative work is much more than the final product or artwork. It is also about how you get there. In this sense fundraising, space management, developing strategies and using new creative technologies for promotion are vital. We are so pleased to welcome members of NATFIZ to Galway and to share their skills and insights’. The University of Galway’s Centre for Creative Technologies will also be supporting the workshops which promise to be exciting, informative and fun.

IN SITU partnership between NATFIZ and the University of Turku, Finland on innovation and entrepreneurship in non-urban areas

 

The collaborative interactive seminar “How can artists and creatives be more entrepreneurial and innovative in non-urban areas?” was held in Finland at the Rauma Maritime Museum (31 October- 2 November 2023) and aimed at improving the entrepreneurial and innovative capacities of artists living and working in non-urban areas in Finland. The expectation is to unlock new possibilities for collaboration, partnership, and income generation. This capacity-building part of the IN SITU project “Place-based innovations in culture and creative industries” seeks to secure a multiplication effect of the conducted series of training, consulting, and mentoring sessions each of the six LAB regions, related to the IN SITU project (Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Iceland, Azores, Croatia) and to correspond to the needs of the CCIs players in these regions.

 The seminar sessions covered actual and needed topics related to improving the skills of artists and creative entrepreneurs in applying efficiently to diverse external sources of funding and financing; enhancing artistic abilities by adding complementary skills in using digital technologies and business models online; to advancing skills in applying visual and written storytelling for improving visibility and gain audiences; applying effectively collaborative strategies at the local level. The seminar was conducted by a team from the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts “Kr. Sarafov”, Sofia with lead Prof. Dr. Lidia Varbanova, Program Director, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elena Trencheva, Dean of Screen Arts Faculty, Lyubomira Kostova, Ph.D. candidate and Mila Velcheva, Arts Manager and Legal Advisor.http://www.natfa.bg

An important part of the seminar was the Heritage Futures Workshop, led by Adj. Prof. Katriina Siivonen and Adj. Prof. Pauliina Latvala-Harvilahti from the University of Turku, aiming to create a vision for the future of culture and creative industries, by moving back 50 years in time and then forward to the future.

The training was attended online and offline by local Finish artists and representatives of other small-scale arts organizations, as well as arts managers from other countries.
