My System of Stanislavsky N°3 – World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT/ITI

“…an imaginary truth emerges, which the actor is able to believe with even more passion than the real truth, and the actor is transferred from the plane of real life to the plane of imaginary life. By believing it, the artist begins to create.” K.S.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

The Stranislavsky project of the World Theatre Training Institute AKT-ZENT/ITI continues. It is designed as an open programme, i.e. you can join us for the topic that interests you.

Monday 13 December will be about the classic Stanislavsky concept of affective memory. This leads to the question of what the concept of truth can mean on stage today. Truth is the basis of all arts and certainly of all theatre systems. Everyone strives for truth on stage.

_But what do you think “truth” is?_
_Is truth in life and truth on stage one and the same truth?_
_What is the difference between the truth of a human, the truth of an
actor, and the truth of a character?_

After only a short contemplation on these questions, the mountain of further questions regarding acting practice piles up. How do we work with the actor’s “art of the lie” to get close to an artistic truth?

Jurij Alschitz, Olga Lapina and all participating artists are looking forward to the discussion!

Monday, 13 December at 15:00-18:00 (UTC+1) ONLINE
